First - make sure you're on Klaviyo. This is the biggest not-so-secret, secret. Other email service providers exist. But they're not as good and won't make you as much money. This is because most other platforms are extremely limited in the automations they can run and how they can segment. I'm going to save you hours of research and potentially tens of thousands a year in revenue by telling you straight up - move to Klaviyo. 

After that, here's what you'll need to do: 

1. Collect opt-ins from non-buyers. Then you're going to offer your product at an incredibly low cost via a channel that has an incredibly high conversion rate. 

2. Set up your low-hanging fruit automations. Each flow is designed to connect with your visitors at exactly the right time to move them forward in their customer lifecycle. 

3. Commit to weekly Cash Injections - aka, campaigns. This is how you'll stay front of mind and keep revenue flowing throughout the year. 

It's fairly simple. But it's also powerful. Because once you get this set up, you'll begin to see results immediately.

Step 1: Collect emails and phone numbers.

This doesn't have to be complicated! 

Just create a pop up that asks site visitors for their info. And remember to also collect their info at checkout. Klaviyo has a built-in tool for this and you don't need any third party software to make this work. 

To increase the number of people who opt in, offer something attractive This can be a % or $ off their first purchase, free product with purchase, or free shipping. We've even seen good results with a free digital download. Play with a few different options to see which one wins. Klaviyo has a built in A/B tester for opt-in forms, so it's easy to test. 

 

 

Step 2: Set up your “Low Hanging Fruit” Automated Flows

I recommend starting with the basics and automating key touchpoints throughout the customer’s life cycle. This can (and should) be done before you have grown a large list... preferably before the day you launch, but the sooner the better.

I exclusively use Klaviyo for this. They’re the easiest to use and the best, hands down. Some flows to consider...

For some stores, the above list is going to generate the equivalent of about 20% of their sales alone. So, if you bring in $50,000 per month in online sales, you can expect those flows to give you about $5,000 - $10,000 per month if done right.

But if you really want to turn up the heat, you'll want to implement step 3 as well...

Step 3: Commit to Weekly Cash Injections, AKA Campaigns

This is where a lot of brands get tripped up.

Whether it's lacking the time to remain consistent or feeling hesitant to email your list this frequently, this is where many brands leave money on the table.

But the reality is, you should email your list at least once per week.

Honestly, you should probably be emailing 2 - 3X per week for optimal results, but start with just once and you’ll start to see results pretty quickly if you have a list or are growing a list.

And don’t just rely on sales emails. Nurture emails often end up performing well AND do more to build a relationship with your audience.

You could stop here and be ahead of 98% of e-commerce brands.

Once you get this set up, about 80% of this is automated. You're just responsible for sending the weekly campaign.
